Program Description

A therapeutic program for youth whose behaviors are disruptive in their homes, at school and in a variety of community settings. This service is designed to address the unstable, troubling behaviors and emotional needs of youth, ages 9 through 18. They may be living with their families, residing in a transitional living program or in a shelter. These youth, diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders, attend program for a minimum of eight hours a week over a period of three or more months. Staff assists each youth in addressing their behavioral and emotional issues. Family members and caretakers provide important input by describing needs and progress, participating in goal setting and attending family therapy.

Program services address the needs of the youth
- Programs arranged relevant to the developmental levels of children as young as age 9 up to and including age 18
- Individual therapy for all youth
- Coed group therapy – engaging youth whose issues and goals are similar
- Young women’s group – relating to gender-specific issues females often face
- Young men’s group – relating to gender-specific issues males often face
- 12-Step recovery meetings
- Psycho-educational groups relating to life skills training, social skill training, career development, health education through outside resources, money management, career and employment planning
- Therapeutic process, art therapy and expressive groups relating to anger management, social skills, cognitive behavior, moral decisions, substance abuse, grief and loss, medication and diagnosis information
- Family therapy
- Goal setting
- Communication training and practice
- Self-responsibility training and practice
